Paris , October 6, 2005 (Malta IOL) – Somali man was yesterday accused of trying to seriously injure another Somali and of succeeding in injuring him slightly, in the early hours of last Saturday.
Mohamed Farah Sulajman, a 33-year-old refugee residing at the Hal Far open centre, was charged with trying to seriously injure another Somali refugee, Olad Ali Abdulhafur at around 4am on 1 October 2005 in Marsa.
He was also accused of injuring Mr. Abdulhafur slightly. The accused pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The court, presided over by magistrate Silvio Meli, heard how the accused was said to have hit the other man with a broken bottle and that the victim had forgiven him. The magistrate remanded the man in custody.
Inspector Anthony Portelli prosecuted while Dr Anthony Cutajar appeared for the accused.
