Hargeisa (SL Times) - SOS president Helmut Kutin arrived Thursday at Somaliland's capital, Hargeisa, on a fact-finding mission.

SOS has reportedly spent $2 million dollars to rehabilitate and re-quip the old Sheikh Secondary School.

Fifty three students are already attending classes at the school which was inaugurated early this year with an eventual enrollment capacity of 200 students per academic year.

According to Mr. Kutin, SOS will continue to assist Sheikh School. "This has apparently been one of the main schools in this country many years ago, and we will do our best to support this school, so that generations of leaders for this country can be trained there, in order to create a country of peace, prosperity and happiness, where children can live together as brothers and sisters."

On arrival at Hargeisa airport, Mr. Kutin was welcomed by the minister of education, Mr. Osman Hassan, minister of Aviation, Mohamed Abdi, Hargeisa Mayor Hussein M. Jicir, and Abdillahi Ashcari of SOS.

SOS is going to start establishing the first SOS village in Hargeisa. During his visit, Mr. Kutin was warmly received by Somaliland's President Dahir Rayale Kahin and vice-president Axmed Yusuf Yassin.

Mr. Kutin has promised to seek assistance for the rehabilitation of the Buroa technical school.
