Honorable Ikran Hagi Daud Warsme, a member of Somaliland’s newly elected House of Representatives, arrived in Washington DC on Monday, March 6, 2006 to attend a three-day International Women’s Convention hosted by International Republican Institute (IRI), which will discuss democracy, gender and governance issues.

The IRI, at the initiative of the Somaliland Policy and Reconstruction Institute (SOPRI), invited honorable Ikran to the convention. SOPRI is coordinating her travel plans within the United States. Hon. Ikran was received at the airport by IRI officials and members of the Somaliland community in Washington DC.

Mr. Saeed Meygag Samater, founder and President of SOPRI said that after the convention, Hon. Ikran would meet with Somaliland community in Washington DC and other cities. He urges Somaliland Communities in the USA, who are willing to attend (and assist) to contact SOPRI Committee at sopri@cox.net
