Press release from Committee of the 2006 Somaliland Convention – August 26, 2006

The Executive Committee of the 2006 Somaliland Convention invites all the Somaliland media outlets including but not limited to print, electronic and radio to attend the second Annual Conference on Somaliland scheduled to be held in the metropolitan Washington DC area on September 8-10, 2006 at the Doubletree hotel in Crystal City, Virginia. The Convention will bring together guest speakers from Somaliland including a delegation from the Somaliland government led by President H.E. Dahir Rayale Kahin, which includes the heads of the House of Representatives, Upper House ”Guurti”, and the Election Commission. Also invited are the leaders of the Somaliland political parties, members of the Somaliland business community, representatives of the United States Government, and more than two dozen other organizations including Universities, public research institutions, civil society groups, and members of the Somaliland Diaspora.

This conference will be of great interest to the general public in Somaliland and will warrant being sufficiently covered. Therefore media outlets are strongly encouraged to have their reporters cover the event first hand. Registration fees will be waived for all media representatives in an effort to encourage their attendance; in addition, the convention committee will provide media facilities.

Further information on the conference, including the venue, program and contacts are available on the www.sopri.org web site. We look forward to seeing you there and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Executive Committee at contact@sopri.org
