Respond To: Goth And Gabobe’s Unholy Alliance |

A female friend of mine who grew up in an area of Somaliland where camels are still worth more than anything else, told me once, people who consumed too much Camel milk in the early years of their life, are more likely to develop clannish syndrome in their adulthood and she jokingly added it might be the reason why our men behave the way they do. Coming back to the point I want to make, I think Mr. Mo who wrote (Goth and Gabble’s Unholy Alliance article), which was published on Somaliland.org website is essentially a tribalist jumping to hasty conclusions. He does this whenever he sees a debate about certain topics conducted by someone who belongs to another clan. Since I read Bashir Goth’s fascinating article, I have seen so many people writing biased opinions in response to Mr. Goth’s article, but this latest article written by Mr. Mo shows how some people can be so naïve and confused. I don’t agree everything Mr. Goth writes but in this article under the title of (Newspaper burning immortalizes media defiance) regarding the mad mullahs in Buroa and their fanatic action against Haatuf News, I think he is right on the money. Mr. Goth's piece was well written, dealing only with general principals like freedom of speech and the right of newspapers to report the news as they see, it was not by any objective measure offensive to either the great city of Buroa or to our great religion of Islam. In fact the only disagreement I have with Mr. Goth on this article is when he called the greatest Awdal philosopher nicknamed (Awaale Xaax) a "madman". Mr. Mo is some how frustrated by Mr. Goth’s sense of humor and open mindedness. Reading his short article, one wonders what Mr. Mo wants to draw the attention of his readers. Is it because Mr. Goth wrote something about Buroa? Or does the author so passionately believe Mr. Goth insulted Islam by mentioning radical clerics in Buroa? Or is he a hatemongering tribalist who couldn’t take the idea of someone else writing about his beloved tribal territory? It seems Mr. Mo himself is not sure what he is trying to tell his readers but it is obvious he felt unease to see Mr. Goth’s article just because Goth belongs to another clan. In either case Mr. Mo failed to see the wider picture and the point Mr. Goth was trying to make. Further more, he accuses Mr. Goth without citing any evidence of being President Rayale’s chief propagandist. It is also ludicrous for Mr. Mo to assert without any corroborating evidence, the existence of a new unholy alliance between Mr. Goth and the editors of Haatuf News. This shows clearly Mr. Mo's conspiratorial mind, he sees enemies lurking behind the shadows trying to destroy the reputation of the great city of Buroa. Just because Haatuf News every once in a while takes a break from excessive bashing of President Rayale doest make it an ally of his administration. Any one who reads Haatuf News regularly knows where its loyalties lie. By far it has being the mouth piece of the Somaliland opposition, if Mr. Mo is patient and reads Haatuf few more days, I am sure he will find what he is looking for. Whether strong camel milk affected Mr. Mo’s mentality or not is open for debate, it is clear he is suffering from a severe case of Paranoia to say the least obviously he needs to cure himself of this scourge before lecturing intelligent people like Goth & Gabobe. |
