As the ‘last Somali man’ faced his demise, a man decided to tape-record his eyewitness testimony as to the collapse and disappearance of his Somali race on African soil. He asked himself, rhetorically, what happened to his whole race of people; and how they were forced into extinction! The following is his testament:

”Now that I am the only survivor of our race and I can't hurt anyone's feelings anymore, I CAN SAY WHAT NEEDS TO BE SAID! LET THE TRUTH BE KNOWN! Our demise as a race WAS NOT AN EVENT; it was a PROCESS; A SLOW PROCESS THAT TOOK YEARS.

We refused to unite with one another, letting our TRIBAL affiliations separate us – i.e., Hawiye, Darood, Dir, Digil & Mirifle, etc. The dark ones didn't like the light skinned ones. One is Suufi, Ataxaad, maxaakiinta. USC, SDF, SNM … Somaliland, Puntland ….

We all believed in Islam but did not fallow the Islamic way of life. What happened to our people, above all, paved the way for our psychological extinction! While other people united along racial, economic, cultural, and religious lines, we could not or would not!!!

It was very strange to see us all in our odd behaviors and skewed thinking. We had been pure, unadulterated people before the invaders invaded us. We were such a ‘Blacknificent’ people, but the invaders not only invaded our land; WORST, they invaded our minds and contaminated our hearts. We descended into thinking of ourselves as "gaajo", as "third world", and living in a "crib". We cherished our "QABIL"'. Our descent to extinction was swift because we had given up our cultural values. We formed all of these little groups of "QABIL" who talked big but produced nothing concrete - no schools, hospitals, restaurants, hotels, manufacturing plants; NOTHING.

We all spent our money lavishly and foolishly; Somali men spent most of their money for "Qaadhaan" that put them deep in debt. They bought “Tikniko” and guns to kill one another. The country laid waste from the destruction. They were "Tikniko” and guns rich but land poor. There were reports that they spent more on the 'Tikniko” and guns than on the education of their children. The Somali man also spent enormous amounts of money on "khaad" and "Hashiish". Apparently, the pain and psychological self-hatred were too much for him to bear. Look at how much marijuana was smoked; marijuana and khaad laced with deadly chemicals which destroyed his perception, personality, and his genetic potential. His children were born with various emotional, psychological and intellectual deficiencies.

It is very difficult for me to talk about all this. But, I must leave at least a taped message about the legacy about my people. The Somali woman, a majestic as the mother of all races and civilizations, lost sight of her authentic self. She started imitating the women of other races, spent billions of dollars in what was called beauty parlors - Dirac, Garbasaar fransaawe. She never really realized she was the original beauty queen and everyone else modeled after her. She spent large sums of money on clothes and made unwise use of her money by buying bleaching creams, hair dyes and, especially, getting her nails painted. How foolish!

A silent way her money left the community was through her excessive use of the telephone and new "fransaawe." for every party. The amount of money spent is something that was never featured in any business or financial magazine. If you look at all the telephone bills incurred by Somalis around the world and the money spent to cover those bills, it would have enabled to rebuild and restore the continent of Africa to its past glorious history.

The warlords! Both male and female are to blame for the establishment and maintenance of Warlords in Somalia. Oh! I know this tape of last testament will hurt the feelings of any who finds it. The naïve Somalis thought they were praising the heavens by helping establish the warlords. What a mistake! Our people were merely making their enemies - Ethiopians and Kenyans - richer and richer. Other countries were the beneficiaries of our misguided actions and mismanagement of financial resources.

Time is running out. I must hurry up and finish the tape recording! I must mention another critical area – food consumption. My race continued to eat food that is contaminated with chemicals and other toxins. They ate lots of waste and toxic chemical in our Indian Ocean as well as the Juba & Shabele rivers. How pitiful! In the last days, Somali people became so sick and out of food. They drank dirty water and untold mounds of toxic milk. As a result, over time, many got ill and died.

The Somali man and Somali woman refused to listen to their "Culuma u diin" warriors, Islamic scholars, Islamic-centered psychologists and educators. These warriors, psychologists and educators wanted to restore our thinking about the importance of remembering our ancestors, educating our children through studying the “Diin", and restoring their identity & self esteem.

Those who had our interests at heart fought night and day to get us to change for our own good. But the media (television, radio and the newspaper; Dayniile , All-Puntland, Somaliweyn, All-Somaliland, etc) had us brainwashed. BBC radio, in particular was actually against us. They only talk to the warlords C\laahi Yusuf, indhocade . Xasan daahir, Caydiid, Suudi Yalaxoow, Qanyare. They gave us no relevant survival information.

Well, the tape is about run out and, I must admit, it is a very sad day for me, “as the last Somali man standing.” I am so very sorry to have to say all these things about the demise of my race. We were very beautiful and loving people. Oh! What a hard-headed and stubborn people we were. It seemed as though we were on a non-stop path of self-destruction.

Wait! What! Who! Is that a Somali Woman! Someone else survived! Impossible! Maybe, if she and I can examine all the mistakes of our people, and not repeat them, perhaps we could ….

IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO CHANGE.BUT TIME IS RUNNING OUT!!

DON'T MAKE THIS STORY COME TRUE!
