I am a 13 year-old girl. My relative Yusuf Abdi Gabobe who is a journalist is in jail. He was arrested more than 3 weeks ago by the police chief commander Saqadhi. My cousin is in prison because his newspaper Haatuf published articles about corruption in the Somaliland presidency. He was taken to court several times.

Yusuf is not the only one imprisoned for the articles. Haatuf editor Ali Abdi Dini and Haatuf Borama correspondent Mohamed Omer are also in Jail. They were charged with writing insults against the president. But the president is afraid of giving them a fair trial. Because the documents and the witnesses are there.

Everything is clear and there is no where to hide. If the accusations against Rayale and his family are proven right what our parliament is gonna do it about it?

My cousin fought for the liberation of Somaliland. Saqadhi and Rayale didn’t. Now they are ungrateful. Those who sacrificed their lives and everything they owned for the country are being mistreated. Where is justice?

Yusuf Abdi Gabobe and his friends are in prison for telling the truth. Telling the truth is their job. Because they are journalists. Money will not last for ever. It cannot conceal the truth.

What matters is what you leave behind. You are either remembered as an honorable person or a disgraceful one.
