A Nation Is At Risk!! |

Issue 303

By Daha Farah It is hard to believe that the two opposition leaders came out of their recent meeting with the president to tell us that he thought Justice Ministry line manages Shuronet and that he had very little information of what happened in the past few weeks! Although I do not know whether they believed this or not, for me, it is absurd and we are in a dangerous situation. This shows the man is not in charge. With all the current events in the country and the president is not in full vigilance shows that the system is in disarrays and the national Security is at increased risk. People like Tallaabo are ruthless if they are not controlled and can instigate civil unrest that can jeopardize our nationhood and commitment to democracy. It is clear that there is a need for change at the top and with immediate effect as the man is not carrying out his statutory duties right. The elected chamber has now a huge task at hand and must act quickly to make sure that our national security and interests are not compromised. It is also important to consider appointing interim President that will take us to elections open to all. The silence of the parliament on important issues such as Citizens right s to contest in the elections and the continued imprisonment of Qaran leaders is putting serious questions on their commitment to undertake their primary duty of securing the constitutional rights of the citizens and upholding the law. We did not want to see our Military engaged with endless war in the east of the country, citizens Human Rights breached and above all, the rule of law and constitution neglected by the very man we elected to uphold them. This is new evidence that the man is not up to the job. We are in real dilemma here, this is a nation at risk. I hope the elected chamber will act quickly and put things back in the right track quickly. To achieve this, they will need to address the real issues with determination and rise to the occasion. God Bless Somaliland
