BOSSASO, Somalia Nov 10, 2008 Authorities in Somalia 's Puntland regional government released a religious native who was detained hours after the October 29 suicide bombings that targeted intelligence headquarters in the port city of Bossaso , 1500km north of the national capital Mogadishu .
Sheikh Mohamed Ismail was released safely on Monday but there was no official word from the Puntland administration.
Inside sources told Garowe Online that Sheikh Mohamed was "wounded in the leg" during the Puntland Intelligence Service (PIS) operation to capture him.
Clan elders took part in efforts to convince Puntland officials to release Sheikh Mohamed, who is a well-known religious personality locally, the sources added.
No other suspects have been detained for the bombings.
The two suicide bombers and a female victim died when cars laced with explosives simultaneously hit PIS headquarters and a branch office in Bossaso.
Three other suicide car bomb attacks killed more than 20 people in Hargeysa, capital of separatist region of Somaliland to the west.
