Obama's Eelection

No doubt, Barack Obama's victory in the American presidential election is a historic moment. The tremendous joy and celebrations that were transmitted on TV screens was a testament to the historic nature of this event. What made this occasion so emotionally charged was not that it was just the end of an unpopular administration, but that many people thought that American whites would never vote for a black person to be their president. But American whites, browns, yellows and every color in between proved the skeptics wrong, and voted for a black man. With that one decision, the tables were turned. America showed the world that when it says all men are created equal, it means it, practices it. The world reciprocated with an outpouring of love and good will towards America . So far so good. Soon it will be Obama's turn to demonstrate whether Americans were right to bet on him.
