UCID Presidential Candidate Urges Parliament To Look Into Agreements With Oil And Minerals Companies

Hargeysa, Somaliland, June 21, 2014 (SL Times) – In an interview with Geeska Afrika newspaper, UCID’s presidential candidate, Jamal Ali Hussein, urged Somaliland parliament to hold a hearing and question the minister of oil and minerals, Hussein Abdi Duale, about the agreements that he had inked with foreign companies.
Jamal Ali Hussein noted that although the minister often enters into agreements, parliament does not know much about them, and it is parliament’s duty to know what’s in those agreements and to make sure that those companies are legitimate.
There has been many questions raised in Somaliland about the corrupt activities of the minister of oil and minerals, Hussein Abdi Duale.
Jamal Ali Hussein’s suggestion to parliament in that interview was probably triggered by those widely known public concerns about the corruption of the minister of oil and minerals.
